Jonathan has been involved in athletic performance since he was a teenager. He has been involved with serious weight training for over 15 years. He is constantly seeking to increase human performance through training. In 2007 Jonathan found CrossFit. The first workout he tried was “Helen” and it wrecked him. From that point forward there was no going back. In 2008 Jonathan became a certified CrossFit level 1 coach. He has coached and implemented the CrossFit methodology since 2008.
He has been Georgia P.O.S.T. certified as a law enforcement officer. He completed Cobb County’s police mandate in 2006 and was employed as a police officer in South Cobb. He has trained in martial arts and hand to hand combat for many years and he has practiced these skills on the streets as a police officer.
In April of 2010 Jonathan was shot in the leg while backing his partner who was fighting a disturbed person over a handgun. Doctors told him it would be 6 months before he would walk. Through determination and his conditioning prior to the shooting Jonathan was not only walking but running far before the 6 month mark. Jonathan returned to police work exactly 2 months from the evening he was shot. If you ask he may even show you his scars.
He is married and the father of 3 beautiful girls.

Heather Edwards
Owner/Coach
- CF Level 1
- CF Kids
- Nutrition Specialist
Heather began her journey of fitness and athletics as a competitive fast pitch softball player. She was involved with the sport from childhood through her teenage years. After highschool she chose to stop playing sports and focus on her education. Shortly thereafter, in college, she found that she had gained far more than the “freshman 15”. As she became more uncomfortable with herself she began seeking the knowledge to change. Through determination and dedication to see change in herself she shed over 40 lbs. Having experienced the trials that come with being overweight she brings a unique mix of hard edge coaching and understanding to our staff. She first discovered CrossFit through her husband in 2007. Her first workout was “Helen”. Within the following week she had already done several of the benchmark workouts and was hooked. Heather has a passion for nutrition and is the “go to” person for any and all things related to food. In 2010, after training the CrossFit way for several years, she was certified as a CrossFit level 1 Coach and began coaching immediately. In February of 2011 she was certified as a CrossFit Kids Coach and began coaching kids in addition to adults.

Missy Mayger
Coach
- CF Level 1
- Completed PPW Olympic Weightlifting seminar
- Completed Outlaw Way training camp
Missy has always had a love for fitness and being active. As an elementary student she set a school record for the 400m run which stayed unbroken into her adult years. She took her love for running and used it as a way to stay fit throughout her life. In her late twenties, she moved from Pennsylvania to Georgia and was introduced to racing. At the age of 25 she ran her first 5k and she was hooked, the competitive feel around her seemed to enable her to run much stronger and faster. Two years later she was challenged to a triathlon, after a grueling 2 hours on the race course, she crossed the finish line and found a new level of competition that involved pushing her body further than her mind thought was possible. Since then she has participated in close to 65 triathlons ranging from sprint to full Iron Man distance, placing in her age group over 20 times. Her love for endurance sports also lead to ultra trail marathon running. After running her first 50-mile trail race in December 2011 she was looking for the next challenge. In January of 2012 she tried Crossfit for the first time at CrossFit North Alpharetta and in only a 10 minute workout experienced having to push her body past her mind screaming “STOP”. She also loved the competitive environment. Thats was it; this was the next step in fulfilling her athletic and fitness goals. She also realized that having balanced training was key to becoming a better all around athlete. Missy was certified as a CrossFit Level 1 coach in April 2012. She continues to race competitively in the triathlons and ultra marathons and attributes her consistent age group placing to her Crossfit training. Missy has a passion for fitness and loves to work with others to help them achieve their fitness/athletic goals at every level.

Michelle Casto
Coach
- CF Level 1
- CF Movement and Mobility
Michelle has always enjoyed an active lifestyle. She started early in her youth as a competitive swimmer and continued until she enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she discovered a love for weight training and aerobic style physical activity. She spent the next few years searching for her place in the fitness industry. She found her first inspiration when she began the Body for Life Challenge in 2007 which sparked not only her desire to be healthier but to also share this passion with others. Following her newly discovered passion, in 2009 Michelle received her certification through the Aquatic Education Association (AEA) and became a water fitness instructor at Life Time Fitness in Alpharetta, Georgia. Wanting to diversify her experience, she then became a licensed Zumba instructor and also received her group fitness certification through The American Council on Exercise (ACE).
After a few years of instructing large classes, Michelle decided she would like to focus more on smaller groups in order to make more of an impact on individuals’ health and fitness. In 2010 she started her own fitness business and began running a morning boot camp at a local park. Even though she was pleased with the success of her boot camp, she felt something was missing. Her husband helped her find that missing element by introducing her to CrossFit in November 2011. (Thanks Chris!) She fell in love with it immediately! The workouts were always different and intense and the community within the box was like nothing she had ever seen before inside a regular gym. Through her journey with CrossFit, Michelle’s athleticism was taken to levels beyond what she thought to be possible. She received her Level 1 Certificate in July 2012 so she could begin coaching. She especially enjoys working with those new to CrossFit and watching their transformation as they reach their goals.
Michelle is looking forward to her continued growth within the CrossFit community…as an athlete and as a coach. Her hope is to help every person who walks through the door not only reach their goals but to also realize their full potential.
Mae Dixon
Kids Coach
- CF Level 1
- CF Kids
Mae stayed active while young by trying new sports, playing outside and getting dirty. She also grew up hiking, walking outdoors and dancing with her friends. When Mae was in her early 20s she started working out at “Globo” Gyms and was even employed by one. Her old “Globo” workouts consisted of isolation routines and cardio. She then progressed to group classes until she abandoned it over boredom.
In December 2011, her fitness boredom ended when she found CrossFit North Alpharetta after her brother’s encouragement (heckling). Mae quickly found out that CrossFit was not just a gym but a great and supportive community. She also quickly learned that having and maintaining a petite frame doesn’t immediately qualify you as fit. Crossfit programming provided a new and challenging level of fitness she had never experienced.
Mae quickly found out that CrossFit North Alpharetta had a growing kids program and her interest was peaked. Mae has always had a desire to work with children and even pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education until she realized teaching general academics was not the path she wanted to pursue. After her young niece was diagnosed with diabetes she knew exactly what she wanted to teach -- health and fitness. CrossFit Kids is the perfect way for her to combine her passions of educating children and fitness into one rewarding program. She loves seeing the joy she brings by watching kids accomplish their goals one workout at a time.
Mae has successfully completed her Level One Certification and CrossFit Kids Certification. She is using what she has learned to educate children on the importance of health and fitness and teaching them tools they can utilize for the rest of their lives.
